With home prices rising, people are moving further from the GTA. Wasaga Beach is growing because families know it is a great place to live full of recreation opportunities, new homes and other families.
Wasaga Beach was formerly seen as a sleepy town north of the city, where tourists would flock to the longest freshwater beach in the world in search of a party or a relaxing day on the water. No longer, it is now seen as a burgeoning community perfect for growing families. With Simcoe County being one of the fastest growing areas in Canada, home prices are on the rise and an investment here could mean big bucks later.
New home developments
No longer just waterfront and cottage properties, Wasaga Beach is full of family-friendly subdivisions with affordable single detached homes. Close to schools and parks, these subdivisions are full of kids and parents and not just retirees and vacationers.
Much cheaper than south
The closer you get to Toronto, the higher the home price. Even cities like Barrie and Newmarket have a highly-saturated market with higher-priced homes, making it almost impossible for first-time homebuyers and one-income families to buy a home. Wasaga Beach has a much more affordable real estate market, with the average price of homes being approximately more than $200,000 less than they are in the GTA.
Short commute to Barrie or Collingwood
Wasaga Beach is close to two great job markets in Collingwood and in Barrie. With about a ½ hour drive in either direction, commuting to either city for work is not a challenge. You’ll benefit from the lower home prices, without the long commute. Traffic will also be better than a commute to Toronto from either city.
With a number of great restaurants in Wasaga Beach, you won’t need to leave to grab a bite to eat. Trip Advisor has given six of Wasaga’s restaurants their Certificate of Excellence, meaning they consistently get good reviews. With everything from pizza to fish to even ethnic favourites like Thai and German, Wasaga Beach has something to wet everyone’s appetite.
Things to Do
